A recent study shows that 40% of adults in the UK use smartphones, 13% more than this time last year.
The findings by the study, conducted by the Ofcom Communications Market Report, go hand in hand with the rise of mobile gaming and the huge revenues being reported.
Mobile sports betting now accounts for more than 76% of all mobile betting across the globe.
In 2011 the mobile gambling market was worth €2.2 billion and in three years time it is expected to be worth €5.4 billion with an annual growth rate of around 19.3%.
Slowly but surely mobile casinos are also increasing revenues. In the fourth quarter of 2010 9.8% of the total online casino market was made up of mobile casinos and 0.6% of the total global casino market.
It is expected that next year up to 12.9% of the online casino market will be mobile casinos.
It is extremely likely that over the next few years mobile sports betting will be domination the market with mobile casinos not far behind.
Half of the bets placed on mobiles are expected to be done through sports books and at least 40% of the rest will be placed at mobile casinos.
