Last week the second annual eGaming summit, hosted by KPMG, took place on the Isle of Man. The event saw 180 delegates from around the world come and speak on matters related to the online gaming industry.The Director of Online Gaming at KPMG, Russell Kelly, described the event as “a unique opportunity for this crucial sector to come together and share their knowledge on the challenges facing it and the opportunities that are presenting themselves on an almost daily basis.”
Also at the event was the Isle of Man’s Chief Minister Allan Bell. He spoke about the island’s essential role to the online gaming industry and was followed by speakers who spoke about game play safety and taxation on the Isle of Man. Many companies are attracted to the island due to its low taxes.
Topics discussed ranged from legal and regulatory issues as well as trends in the industry. There were talks about technological changes and Archie Watt, the Online Gaming and IT Advisory Head at KPMG said that “a lot has changed in the twelve months since the last summit, which highlights the pace of innovation and regulatory change in this complex but vibrant marketplace.”
