Despite Odds of 9/1 Ferguson Believes Man U Can Win Champions League

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Manchester United has a great chance of winning the Champions League if the team’s defenders are fit.

However, the bookies clearly don’t agree, the best odds available are 9/1 from Paddy Power.

So far Man U have won their opening two games but they have suffered a number of defensive injuries with Nemanja Vidic , Chris Smalling and Phil Jones having missed most of the season so far.

Ferguson said that “It is a frustration that we have not won the Champions League more often, especially when I think of the times we’ve thrown it away.”

However, he says that you can’t let that “eat away at you. You’ve always got the next year. The final is at Wembley this season and that’s a great incentive for us.”

Ferguson went on to say that while Chelsea deserve credit for winning last season, he prefers his team to play a more expansive style of football.

He said that Chelsea were “very strong and did some great jobs, defending” before saying that Man U has “suffered for bad defending over the years.”

Ultimately he said that the most important thing is to “score enough goals to win a game.”
