It is rare to find a video game which works well when transferred from console to mobile. However, HyperDevbox has just managed to turn a series of Japanese RPGs in to a hugely successful set of mobile games.
The games, Spectral Souls and its sequel Blazing Souls Accelate, take hours of playing time to complete and look to be the next mobile sensation.
CEO of HyperDevbox, Carlo Perconti, said, “We just strive to bring cool games to hot platforms and develop original games for a global audience.”
His team of ten specialise in porting hit console games to mobile, in particular they specialise in cult Japanese hits.
Spectral Souls is a strategy RPG with a huge fan base which has steadily grown since the game was released for Sony PSP in 2006.
Perconti said “It doesn’t rely exclusively on fast reaction player abilities or game mechanics, so you have the time to think about your next move and play with less stress than let’s say, a fast paced action game.” He believes it is these qualities which make it a suitable game for mobile.
It turns out he was right, the game has been downloaded thousands of times despite costing £8.19 and has an average rating of 4.5/5 in the Google Play store.
